Day 15

We got tickets to the main Disneyland park, didn't get one for the California Adventure cause it was quite a bit more expensive to do both, and we probably wouldn't have time to do both anyway. So we went in and headed to the first ride of the day, the Matterhorn Bobsleds. Of course since it was Saturday, the park was ridiculously crowded and the lines were all really long. The line for this line was a good 45 minutes or so, and my mom left for a bit to get a FastPass for Space Mountain. She just barely got back in line in time to get on the ride haha. Since there were 5 of us, one of us had to go on the ride by themselves, so I took the high road and volunteered to do so.

So today we took a trip down towards Anaheim to Disneyland! I've been to Disney World many times in my life, enough that I don't really feel like I need to go back again anytime soon, but this is my 5th time in California and I still have never been to Disneyland, so I was happy to have the opportunity to head down there today.

Of course, Anaheim looks like its right next to LA, but its actually a good 45 minutes or so South, and that's with no traffic, and everybody knows that LA has pretty bad traffic. However, we did manage to get down to Disney pretty quickly and without delay. We parked in the "Mickey and Friends" garage, on the Goofy level. (Know its been said a million times, but why is Goofy anthropomorphic, wears clothes, talks, etc. and Pluto does none of those things, yet both are dogs???) Anyway, we went down and took a tram over to the entrance to the park.

After the Matterhorn, we had lunch at the "Village Haus" and met Laura's friend Juanita again. From there we got in the 60 minute line for the Haunted Mansion. Normally I'm not one to complain about long waits and such, but with my foot in the condition its in, it certainly was not helping to stand on it all day...anyway enough about the foot, so after about an hour wait, we rode through the Haunted Mansion, which was specially decorated for Halloween. After walking around Frontierland a bit, we took a little break, a few people got ice creams, and then we headed over to Tomorrowland.

We figured we'd get in line for Star Tours, as it was recently redone, and apparently is really cool. However, fresh off waiting an hour for the Haunted Mansion, we didn't want to wait the 65 minutes that Star Tours had at the time, so we headed into Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters, which only had a 20 minute wait! We got split up waiting in line, so William and I ended up going on together, where I proceeded to smoke Emperor Zurg and save the Galaxy!

After Buzz Lightyear, we actually were able to snag some FastPasses to Star Tours! Lucked out I guess. I had been a little disappointed because both the Pirates of the Caribbean and Indiana Jones rides were closed, and the huge crowds made wait times very long, but this certainly made up for it somewhat. Anyway, we went in to Star Tours, and it was awesome. Very interactive, seats moving, etc. and it was in 3D as well, which certainly made it a more immersive experience.

Following Star Tours, we were finally able to use our FastPasses for Space Mountain. After being in line for a few minutes, we saw crowds of people leaving the line, and then heard a very disconcerting announcement. "Space Mountain is experiencing technical difficulties and is indefinitely closed." I was ready to rip my hair out, grab Micky by his ears and yell at him, but fortunately, about 10-15 minutes later, they opened it back up again. Soon afterwards, we got into the ride, and blasted out into space. I have to admit, I was legitimately terrified going on this ride haha. Being in the dark, going really fast, and the Event Horizon-esque images didn't help haha. Afterwards, we decided we had enough of the park, and walked in to Downtown Disney to get some dinner. However, every restaurant was ridiculously expensive, and had like a 90 minute wait. By now my foot was really starting to hurt after walking around and standing up all day, so I was ready to head back to Burbank.

So that's what we did, and while it was nice that we had little traffic on the way down, that was not to be this time. Really bad traffic on the way back. Around 8 or so we ended up back in Burbank, hungry and tired, we rolled in to Denny's and had ourselves a late dinner. It really hit the spot actually haha. Anyway, after that, we headed back to the hotel, exhausted, so we pretty much called it a night there.
