Day 10

So today was a little bit more eventful than yesterday haha. We woke up a little later than usual, I had ben up a little late the night before. Krysta was nice enough to get me breakfast again haha. And eventually after I rolled off my air mattress, we packed up and checked out of the hotel we had stayed at for the past 3 nights. It took a bit less time than I expected, which is always nice, and we got the car all packed up for our eventual check-in at a different hotel in Burbank.

We hadn't planned anything in particular for the day, but I remembered a post my old friend Keith from BU posted on my Facebook wall last night suggesting we take a trip to the Santa Monica pier at some point, so now seemed as good a time as ever to head over there. We drove along Route 2 to Route 5 and then Route 10 to get to Santa Monica...fortunately there was very little traffic along the way. It's kind of funny, for all the talk about LA traffic, the only time we've ever really hit any is when we were coming into the city on Friday night, an it wasn't that bad that time. Anyway, we got to Santa Monica around 11:30 or so, parked in a garage, and headed down to the pier.

From there we basically just walked around, went to the end of the pier, which was cool, as we were a few hundred yards into the Pacific, yet we were dry! Took a few pictures there which you can see below... Walked back a bit, and went to the Pacific Park. Looked a little less crowded than my previous visits to the park. We went up on the Ferris Wheel, which had great views of the ocean, as well as the cities of Santa Monica and Los Angeles, so while it was definitely expensive to go up, we got some great views and pics.

Afterwards I saw the slanted ladder game thing which I tried to do last March (2010 that means) in order to win a new "Little Jerry" (Rehoboth people will know what I'm talking about) but of course it was practically impossible, and I felt like we got ripped off attempting to climb it. Fortunately that was closed today, otherwise I might have tried it again, and most likely failed even more miserably with my broken foot and big ugly boot. Then again, maybe the boot has more traction than a regular shoe (I honestly have no idea) and perhaps it might have been easier to get up with it. We'll never know I guess. We then ate at the little express version of Pizza Hut on the pier, and headed back to the car. Fortunately in the garage we parked at, you get 2 free hours. Definitely was happy about that, nice to save money for a change on this trip haha.

From Santa Monica, we drove up Route 1 towards Malibu. I don't think I'd ever gone to Malibu, but I've certainly heard plenty about it, and in the event I ever win like a $100 million lottery or The Man From Mercury becomes a big hit, I want to buy a beachfront mansion there. Pretty cool town, very obvious that a lot of celebrities live there, and if they're not celebrities, they've gotta be wicked rich. After driving through the town a bit, we headed towards Burbank, driving through the mountains. These mountains were pretty cool, reminded me a bit of our trip down the Pacific Coast Highway from San Fran a few days ago. Saw some pretty amazing houses, and had some pretty incredible views of the ocean and surrounding areas. There was even a huge castle at the top of one of the mountains we drove by.

Eventually we got down the 101 and got to our new hotel in Burbank. As satisfied as I was with our place in Glendale, this Burbank hotel blows it out of the water (thanks Dad!). Unpacked and such, did some much needed laundry (hey, we've been on the road for over a week without any laundry facilities!) Then I went and picked William up at work. We got back around 5:30 or so, called our mom to wish her a happy birthday, and chilled a bit. After a while, I drove William back to his apartment, stopped over at Best Buy to snag a couple Blu-rays, and headed back to the hotel.

From then on I pretty much just hung out, browsed on my laptop, watched some TV. Come 9 (PST of course) Krysta and I watched the season premiere of "House". Can't believe that show is in its 8th season now. One of the few (maybe any) shows I can say I've been watching since day 1 (way back in '04) that I'm still watching now. Decent episode, different than usual in that House was in jail. (Gotta rant a little here, I much prefer serialized TV shows to procedurals, House has very much been a procedural for the entirety of its run, I was hoping he'd stay in jail for a few episodes but *SPOILERS* looks like he's back at his hospital next week....) From there I caught the 2nd half of Monday Night Raw (hey I watched the WWE PPV the night before, I gotta see the fall-out!) then pretty much called it a night......

On to tomorrow whatever it may hold....
