Ok, but shorter post today because it wasn't a particularly eventful day.... Anyway, the most notable thing happened pretty much right when I got up. A little before 9, I was sort of awake, lying in bed, groggy. Krysta had went down to get breakfast, and she was going to bring me up some milk, because I had a box of Honey Nut Cheerios that I was planning on eating for breakfast. While I'm still barely awake, I get a text from Krysta saying "LANDAU IS HERE!!!" Landau, of course, it Landau Eugene Murphy Jr., winner of this year's America's Got Talent. I admit I didn't really watch the show too much, but Krysta and some other of my family members watched it pretty regularly over the summer, so I'd catch a few minutes of it here and there, but I was always impressed by Landau's Sinatra-esque voice, so I went down and was going to get a picture if I could. By the time me and my broken foot hobbled down the stairs, Krysta had already gotten a picture of herself with Landau on her cell phone. Here it is....
So that certainly was the highlight of Krysta's day, and I thought it was pretty cool too, as this guy is probably going to be pretty famous some day, and we randomly ran into him at breakfast at our hotel. You never know who you're gonna see in the most unexpected places out here I guess.
Anyway, it rained a lot today, apparently the most it has in months, which I guess is probably good, though it certainly doesn't help sightseeing and stuff. I spent a lot of the day on my laptop looking around at jobs and stuff. One important milestone for me today was that I was able to do some real exercise for the first time since breaking my foot. I was running 25-30 miles a week before the injury, but haven't been able to do much of anything in the 3+ weeks since it. The foot's been feeling pretty good lately, so I figured I'd test it out a bit with some exercise. So I wrapped it tightly in an ace bandage, put on my sneakers, and went over to the fitness center. I figured if I was in any pain, I'd stop right away, but I was able to get through over a half hour on the stationary bike, and over 20 minutes on an elliptical without any pain. Definitely a step forward, though I've still got to take it easy.
A bit later we got dinner at Subway, and then headed over to Ralph's to stock up a bit on food and other necessities. I'm trying hard to be somewhat economical on this trip because of how long it is, so I've been trying to cut back on the amount of times we go out to eat. So I got some of my usual faves, including lean pockets, rice cakes, pasta, some cold cuts, including turkey and cheese.... We also prepared for my mom and aunt's arrival tomorrow by getting my mom a small cake and flowers, as her birthday was a few days ago.
So we got back to the room, I did more job hunting and stuff, watched some tv.... Overall a fairly uneventful day, aside from breakfast of course, but its nice to have some low key days here and there when we've done so much in the now close to 2 weeks we've been away...
