Day One, Part 1

So I wanted to do this blog to keep people up to date on what we're doing on our trip, and for my own personal  use, so I can have something to remember it by. Enjoy!

So we got up around 6 AM, of course I had been up until 2 AM packing, worrying I would forget things, my mind racing at 100 mph, so I didn't get enough sleep. Big surprise. We got a ride from our mom to Logan Airport, and got in line to check our bags in at JetBlue. I had printed our boarding passes the previous night thinking it would save time, but once we got to the terminal, there was a huge line to check you bags in. I can be pretty impatient when it comes to waiting in lines like that, so I was kind of annoyed. But it all worked out. Fast forward a half hour, and we're in line for security.

One important thing I forgot to mention....I have a broken bone in my left foot and have to walk in this big grey boot that looks like I'm about to go skiing despite the fact that its about 70 degrees out.

Its not pretty, and yeah I think that is a hair on it...

So obviously the boot was a big deal in security, I either had to take it off, which would have been rather annoying, but instead they just "swabbed" it with some wand thingy and analyzed in on the computer. Anyway...we barely made it to the gate in time, but it worked out alright.

I never can sleep on planes, and that day was no exception, despite getting only 4 hours of sleep. So I spent most of the plane ride watching SpongeBob, the guy sitting next to me probably thought I was some kind of creep, a long haired guy in his mid 20s watching a children's cartoon, oh well.

So we landed in Denver at about 12:45 mountain time, the Denver airport was really nice, felt kind of like a mall actually. After getting off the plane, we had to take a little trolley to the main terminal. Side note - travelling with two people and three big bags is not recommended. Fortunately we were ale to get our bags pretty quickly, and then brought them upstairs and had some lunch at Dominos. After burning the roof of my mouth with the cheese we headed back down, and caught a bus to downtown Denver, where we would rent a car. Little did I realize just how far the Denver airport was from the actual city itself, little bit of false advertising???

So we rented this little white Mazda 3, decent car, trunk wasn't huge, but fortunately Krysta figured out how to cram the three bigger bags in their at once. First item on the agenda was to obtain supplies. Where else to go but Walmart! Got out my trusty GPS that has gotten me out of many bad driving situations (and in to some as well) and searched for the nearest Walmart. It told us that there was one about 4.5 miles away, good enough for me. So we drive all around the city, and when I hear the familiar "you have reached your destination" there is no Walmart to be found. Do Walmarts just disappear? I thought they're typically rather large, so I don't know where it might have gone, but it certainly was not where my GPS said it was. Alas, I did not panic, and was able to find another Walmart about 2 miles away. We went in and stocked up on all sorts of delicious and nutritious items, peanut butter, crackers, rice cakes (of course) water and Gatorade. (I'm something of a fitness and exercise nut, and having a broken foot basically means I can't do anything, so in the meantime I need to really make sure I'm eating well)

I'm gonna break up the day here, because I know this is getting long, and you probably don't want to read one really long post at a time....that's why I love Twitter so much
